Sonata #4 for solo piano was completed in the fall of 2024. Unlike the composer's previous sonatas, the piece contains two movements. The first movement (Adagietto pesante) sounds in a slow motion and has the features of the ternary form. It is characterized by the presence of stretched sounds and chords, and has a bell-like character. The piano texture captures all the registers of the instrument, which gives density and dimensionality to the overall sound. The long pitches alternate with virtuoso passages of 64th notes, which are further developed in the main theme of the second movement of the sonata. The second movement of the composition (Vivo molto) is presented in the sonata form. It is saturated with various techniques that require high performance training. The main theme is in a low register. The music is characterized by brightness, sharpness and toccativeness, with the piano interpreted as a percussion instrument. The second theme is at a more relaxed tempo. It combines the simplicity inherent in cinematic music with inclusions of jazz elements. Also as in the third sonata, the composer employs the mirrored reprise, where the themes are carried out in the reverse order. At the end of the coda, the music material from the first movement appears for a moment, which creates an arch of sorts. The fourth piano sonata can be useful to professional composers and musicians, as well as concert pianists interested in a new virtuoso piano repertoire.
