The composition “Rotations for four flutes” was composed in November 2013. The piece, which has the contours of the ternary structure, is based on a minimalist technique that is used in many of the composer's works. The work is characterized by dynamics, brightness and virtuosity, as well as energizing its internal energy. А. Anuchin applies here the technique of imitations composing. The piece is based on the pattern that takes the half beat in length and is repeated in turn by all the instruments and then enters with an offset at different times. In the third number, due to the variation, it is already moving from top to bottom, as if in a retrograde. Then in the fourth one, it reacquires its original motion (the parts of the first two flutes), while combining with the retrograde version (the flutes 3 and 4). From the seventh number, the pattern grows in size and occupies three quarter beats, combining with the original short variant. The strong contrast occurs in the eleventh number. The constant movement of the sixteenths notes stops, and only one pitch remains of the pattern, which is repeated through the resulting rests. Then in the twelfth number the movement of the sixteenth notes is again restored, but not for a long time, for in the thirteenth number it is as abruptly interrupted as in the eleventh one. In the middle section of the composition, the expressive lyric theme of wide breathing (in the part of the third flute) comes to the center of attention, supplanting the original pattern, which retains its movement, but already in the role of an accompaniment. The reprise section is where the climax of the piece takes place. The flutes are used in the upper register for quite some time, including the “F6,” “F-sharp6,” and “G6” pitches. Although there are spaces between the patterns during which performers are able to renew their breathing, it still requires technical endurance and preparation. The composition “Rotations” for four flutes can be useful to professional composers and musicians, as well as contemporary ensembles interested in new contemporary and virtuoso repertoire.
